At
Freedom Horses, we recognize the physical and emotional balance and grounding
that comes from the relationship between people and horses.
We will foster that connection by providing a therapeutic environment using horsemanship skills. We believe that the ranch milieu can also reinforce basic living skills for our clients to improve self-confidence. We service a population at risk with emotional issues and the ability to heal. We foster a safe, nurturing, outdoor atmosphere in which to heal and grow using professional staff trained in horsemanship and psychological counseling.
ABOUT US
Freedom Horses, LLC grew out of a conversation between several friends with a common interest in improving the psychological options available within the Rogue Valley and surrounding area. This ranch and therapeutic community uses horsemanship skills to provide counseling to children and adults who have issues that interfere with their ability to function. Studies have found that the use of horses in therapy creates a physical metaphor for dealing with intimidating and challenging situations in life. Clients will develop the skills and abilities needed to effectively care for and ride the horses. They will receive therapeutic treatment and training from a team of skilled professionals.
Professional Staff
Freedom Horses, LLC is owned and managed through a partnership between Leslie Hunter, a ranch owner and experienced horsewoman; Amanda Sloan, a Clinical Social Worker licensed in the states of Oregon and Massachusetts; and Tim McGinnis, a horse trainer with over thirty years of experience.
